Following the successful launch of our new youth dance company, Chameleon Youth, last month at Manchester Central Library, we’re delighted to announce the Try-Outs for the new youth company, to take place on Sat 4 June.
Led by our co-founders, Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner, the Try-Outs are workshop sessions from which the first ever youth company members will be selected. Open to ages 11 to 18, the sessions are for young people with a positive attitude, bags of enthusiasm and most importantly a big desire to dance and be creative: previous dance training is by no means essential.
Over 60 young people from across all ten Greater Manchester boroughs joined us for the Tasters last month, talking about the sessions, Chameleon’s Co-Artistic Director, Anthony Missen, said:
“It filled me with great joy to see the young people in action in the Tasters. The potential and possibility is enormous, there is a wealth of talent in this city, and a hunger for learning.
We are incredibly excited and eager to begin on this journey, and to pay forward in developing and nurturing the next generation of dancers, offering our knowledge, discoveries and guidance to them. The next step for any young person interested in Chameleon Youth is to sign up for the Try-Outs in June….we hope to see you there.”
Chameleon Youth Try-Outs take place on Sat 4 June at Z-Arts. There will be two sessions for age groups: 10-12noon for age 11 – 14 and 1 – 3pm for age 15 – 18.
If selected at the Try-Out in June, Chameleon Youth dancers will commit to being a part of the company for one year. Classes will start in September and run to July. Each group will meet on a Monday evening during term time at Manchester Central Library: Juniors (age 11 to 14), 5 – 6.30pm and Seniors (age 15 to 18), 6.30 – 8pm.
