Launching on Wednesday 26 February, Company Chameleon presents a brand-new studio class for professionals in the region.
Highly physical, powerful and athletic, this advanced class promises to challenge dancers’ technique and develop their skills as a mover.
Led by Gemma Nixon, this dynamic class draws on Cunningham-based techniques, and incorporates both standing technique and floor work, using muscularity and release to achieve strength and fluidity. As well as working on the articulation of the spine and postural alignment, the class focuses on the ability to switch quickly and efficiently between being upright and strong and weighted down into the floor.
Sam Broadbent, Learning & Participation Manager, said: “We’re delighted to be able to build our growing studio programme with this new class for professionals. The class contributes to our ongoing mission to support dance development in Greater Manchester, as well as nurture a stronger dance community.
For the class, Gemma will combine her vast experience, working internationally as a teacher, and as a professional dancer with companies such as Rambert, Royal Ballet and Chameleon. We’re delighted to have her on board!”
