Accelerate as an artist

4 May 2020

Calling all dance makers in Greater Manchester and beyond! We’re announcing two new professional development opportunities as part of our online summer programme.

ARTIST SURGERIES

Are you starting your own dance company? Do you have a burning idea for a new choreographic work? Are you seeking advice about a creative project?

Company Chameleon are offering free, one hour, online surgeries for final year students, graduates, and dance professionals with our Co-Artistic Directors, Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner.

With nearly 40 years’ industry experience between them and co-founders of Company Chameleon since 2007, Anthony and Kevin have collected a wealth of knowledge around how to carve a successful and resilient career within the dance sector.

Eager to pass on this experience and support dance artists at all stages of their careers, our new artist surgeries are a fantastic opportunity to seek one on one career advice and to connect with the Co-Artistic Directors of one of the UK’s leading independent dance theatre companies.

Sam Broadbent, Learning & Participation Manager, said: “Now more than ever, we’re encouraging dance artists to come together, stay connected and support each other through this very different dance landscape. We’re thrilled to announce this new offer which aims to support dance artists in Greater Manchester and beyond.”

THEATRE THURSDAYS

The second opportunity is a spin on Theatre Thursdays. This summer, the series will return, but this time we’re handing our platform over to you!

Every Thursday, throughout June and July, we will be shining a light on the wonderful work that is being born out of the region and inviting audiences to celebrate the very best of dance from Greater Manchester.

At Company Chameleon, we’re committed to raising the bar for dance in the region, and for us, that means finding new ways to support the vibrant dance community of Greater Manchester.

This new spin on Theatre Thursday’s will allow us to share the work of regional artists across our social and YouTube channels, offering dance makers the chance to reach new audiences and tell their own stories through dance.

Talking about the opportunity, Sam said: “We’re thrilled to be using our platform to shout about the breadth and quality of the work that’s being created in the region. We hope that our new spin on Theatre Thursday’s not only brings the dance community together but also introduces the work of Greater Manchester artists to new audiences.”
