Company Class is bouncing back for Spring.
From Monday 14 March, our doors will be open to graduates and professionals, who would like to push forward their practice and train with us at our home studio.
Classes are FREE and take place Monday to Friday, 10am-11:30am. Bookings are open from Mon 14 Mar to Fri 29 Apr.
These classes are fast paced and dynamic, and tailored to the requirements of our own company dancers. We therefore require participants to be of a sufficiently advanced level. Company Class is a fantastic opportunity for high level dancers to maintain their training, whilst also networking with other professionals from the region.
If you’re a professional dancer or recent graduate this is a fantastic FREE opportunity to push forward your practice in high quality classes which engage a mix of movement styles, focuses and techniques.
The well-rounded training programme will be led by an outstanding teaching team, including our Co-Directors, Company Dancers, Associate Artists and local artists from our home of Greater Manchester.
The teaching line up is as follows:
MONDAYS, 10-11:30am – 14, 21, 28 Mar & 04, 11, 25 Apr
Train with Karen
“Start your week with a ballet class that takes you through your paces. We’ll start off at the barre waking up all parts of the body gently, move into centre to find our cores and end class with allegro. My class will make you think of your technique, all the while not losing the element of dancing and flow through each exercise. A feel good class for your body and brain!”
TUESDAYS, 10-11:30am – 15, 22, 29 Mar & 23, 05, 12, 19, 26 Apr
Train with Company Dancers – Alice, Dave & Gustavo
“My class will guide you through a series of exercises, drills, phrases and improvisation explorations, focussing on connecting with our body, feeling energised and accessing our dynamic range possibilities! The sessions will also always include dance specific conditioning elements, designed to improve our strength and aerobic stamina.” – Alice
“Find flow whilst rooting down! In my class you will work with a complex movement language which aims to enrich your relationship with the floor. The class emphasises fluidity, while handling intricate functions for moving with, as well as in and out of the ground.” – Dave
“Finding your balance and using your swing are key points in my class. Warming up with technically intricate floor combinations we work our way through class with demanding pirouette exercises, across the floor arm work/floorwork skills, finishing with a dynamic routine, combining what you’ve learned. It’s a mixture of Contemporary Dance, Classical Ballet, Capoeira and other martial arts – aka my background – Ready for the challenge?” – Gustavo
WEDNESDAYS, 10-11:30am – 16, 23, 30 Mar & 20, 27 Apr
Train with Gemma
“Drawing upon my experiences as a professional dancer with companies including Rambert, The Royal Ballet and Company Chameleon, my class is a dynamic Cunningham-based technique class using muscularity and release to achieve strength and fluidity. As well as working on the articulation of the spine and postural alignment, this class focuses on the ability to switch quickly and efficiently between being upright and strong, and weighted down into the floor.”
THURSDAYS, 10-11:30am – 17, 24, 31 Mar & 07, 14, 21, 28 Apr
