Join us at our studio for GALA and help us raise £2000 and create an unforgettable experience for our youth dance company!  This special fundraiser night of performance will raise money for Chameleon Youth Seniors to visit Falmouth, Cornwall in July and take part in a creative weekend residential with Propeller Youth Dance.

GALA features a varied of programme celebrating the work of Company Chameleon.  This includes a rare chance to see Hands Down, a duet choreographed by Anthony Missen, which has been described by Total Theatre magazine as “Mesmerising” and by audiences as “Vibrant and brilliant”, “Spellbinding” and Amazing.”

 The full programme includes:

Hands Down choreographed by Anthony Missen

The evening will also feature short performances by our Adult Class.

< One hour dance lesson for you and a friend or career coaching session with one of our Co-Artistic Directors, Kevin Edward Turner or Anthony Missen

< A signed print of your choice by Stan Chow, one of Manchester’s most famous artists

< Two tickets to see Abigail’s Party by Mike Leigh at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester

The £2000 raised will give Chameleon Youth Seniors an unforgettable experience and the opportunity to:

  • Enjoy a touring experience as a youth dance company for the first time.
  • Connect and collaborate with young people from the other side of the country.
  • Share their creativity and culture and further develop their dance skills in a new setting.

Our Co-Artistic Director, Anthony Missen, said: “Please help support our youth company in their learning journey.  One of the most eye-opening experiences Kevin and I had as youth theatre dancers was the chance to visit the borders and take part in the Scottish Youth Dance Festival.  Here we had an invaluable opportunity to meet fellow dancers, learn new approaches and styles, and see dance as something to pursue, which was a significant moment. Your support will help us create a similar opportunity for our young dancers and is an investment in their futures, please help how you can.”

Our Co-Artistic Director, Kevin Edward Turner, said “As a young dancer in a youth company I cherish the memories and learning that I experienced when having the opportunity to leave my local city and travel to a new place, with new people and new ways of working. It gave me a wider perspective on the world, creativity and what dance can be.

It’s so important for us to support the next generation of artists and to inspire them by working in new environments and with new people. For many it will be their first time out of the city on their own, their first time being in Cornwall and for a few, the first time on a plane.

We need to give these aspirational opportunities to our young people to foster learning and exchange and create a taste of what it’s like to tour as part of a professional dance company.”

We hope you can join us and look forward to seeing you for a brilliant evening of dance celebration. Thank you for your support and let’s smash our target of £2000!
