Manchester to Korea

20 April 2017

May promises to be a jam-packed month here at Chameleon, with four different productions on the road across the UK and internationally, including the Company’s first ever visit to Asia.

Our outdoor festival season gets underway next week as we take Push and Hands Down to Ansan Street Arts Festival in Korea. Our visit is part of a cultural exchange with Stockton International Riverside Festival, sponsored by the British Council, and provides an amazing opportunity to take our duets to a new continent and a new audience.

Talking about the festival, our Co-founder Kevin Edward Turner said:

The company is delighted to be performing in South Korea and Asia for the first time this Summer. We hope the audiences are moved and engaged by our work and that this is the first of many performances in this creative, dynamic and exciting part of the world.”

International touring is an integral part of what we do at Company Chameleon and by making work which is adaptable and scalable, we have been lucky enough to be invited to venues and festivals all over the world, reaching thousands of people through the universal language of movement.

Having already made our Berlin performance debut earlier this year at the Purple International Dance Festival in Germany, this Summer will see further European dates in Sweden and Italy, along with extensive touring outdoors in the UK. This includes the premiere performance of Witness This at Brighton Festival (May 13 & 14). Our new outdoor work for 2017, Witness This, explores mental health issues and will premiere during Mental Health Awareness Week.

Finally, in May you can catch Witness in theatres for the last time this year, with performances at DanceEast, Ipswich (Fri 12 May, 19.30) and Déda, Derby (Thur 18 May, 19.30).

Witness This is commissioned by Without Walls, Ageas Salisbury International Arts Festival and Brighton Festival.
