Space Hire at Chameleon

A converted schoolhouse with original features and a welcoming atmosphere, Company Chameleon has four dance studios available to hire for artists, companies and organisations in the creative industries.

The BBC, Factory International, Corey Baker Dance, Seeta Patel Dance, Blackhaine and the National Youth Dance Company are amongst those who have used the space for filming, creative development and rehearsal purposes.

Based in Openshaw, Company Chameleon is close to Manchester city centre and is within walking distance to Gorton train station. We offer free and secure car and cycle parking.

Studio 1
With a dome shaped ceiling, wooden beams and lots of natural light, Studio 1 is the former school hall, and provides a large and flexible multi-use space.

The studio has a semi-sprung Harlequin dance floor and the latest lighting and sound technology.

Retractable theatre style seating and curtains allow the space to be transformed into a blacked-out performance space with an audience capacity of 100.

Workshop / class capacity: 20-25 adults / 25-30 Young People

Space dimensions: 24m length | 10m width | 7.5m height (in the middle).

Studio 2
A former classroom with high ceilings and a Harlequin vinyl dance floor with foam underlay, Studio 2 is a bright and positive space with direct access to the outside. Ideal for moving sets in and out.

Workshop / class capacity: 4-5 adults

Space dimensions: 8m length | 6m width | 4m height

Studio 3
A former classroom with high ceilings and a Harlequin vinyl dance floor, Studio 3 is a good-sized space located off Studio 1, the old school hall.

Workshop / class capacity: 4-5 adults

Space dimensions: 6m length | 7m width | 4m height

Studio 4
Located off studio 1, the old school hall, Studio 4 has a Harlequin vinyl dance floor and a lower ceiling, which gives the space a more cosy feel. 

Workshop / class capacity: 4 adults

Space dimensions: 7m length | 7m width | 3m height.

Standby Studio Hire:
Looking for last minute space? Our new standby scheme allows Dance Artists to access empty studios for just £20 for the day!*

• To reserve a standby studio call by 5pm the day before
• Only £20 for the Entire Day (10am – 6pm)
• Studios can accommodate 1- 5 people
• Standby studios are only available 24hrs ahead, Mon to Fri (standby space is not available at the weekend)

*Standby studio hires are subject to availability.
