Start 2025 with Company Chameleon at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester!
We’re excited to continue our collaboration with the RNCM into the New Year, with two dance and live music performances on Sunday 12 January at 2pm and 4pm.
Vivaldi to Sinatra with Company Chameleon
Sunday 12 January 2025, 2pm, RNCM
In this first performance of the afternoon, Company Chameleon will perform to music played by the RNCM first-year string students. Together they will bring their energy and passion to a rich and varied programme that moves seamlessly from Vivaldi to Frank Sinatra.
“Our collaboration with the RNCM’s first-year strings orchestra is an exciting one.” says Anthony Missen, our Co-Artistic Director who is leading on the project. “Our dancers will perform new choreography alongside each of the pieces played by the musicians.
The strings players will play from memory and move around the stage with their instruments, shifting audience perceptions of how audiences traditionally experience live classical music performance. We can’t wait!”
RNCM Strings Orchestra with Company Chameleon
Sunday 12 January 2025, 4pm, RNCM
In the second performance, Company Chameleon will perform alongside the RNCM String Orchestra, led by Zoe Beyers from BBC Philharmonic. Together they will bring to life a vivid and expressive interpretation of exciting works, which includes a new production of Carmen.
Anthony explains, “We’ve been busy in the studio creating choreography for the scenes with the Chameleon stamp you’d expect. Usually when I’m creating a new production, I work closely with a composer.
Here, I’ve been responding to what the music suggests to me and the story the music tells. It’s been a new challenge, and with some big and complex music in there, there’s been lots to get my teeth into!”
