Chameleon Youth – Adèle’s story.
3 June 2025In the countdown to this year’s Chameleon Youth audition on Sunday 13 July, we catch up with Adèle about her dance journey with Chameleon Youth.
1) Hi Adèle, how old are you and where are you from?
Hello! I’m 18 and I’m from Heald Green in Greater Manchester.
2) What made you want to be a part of Chameleon Youth?
I found Chameleon Youth completely by accident whilst scrolling through Instagram and thought it would be a great opportunity to develop my contemporary dance skills. Applying was the best decision I have ever made 🙂
3) What do you enjoy most about Chameleon Youth and what has it given you?
I enjoy the welcoming atmosphere the most. I haven’t been here long but I instantly felt like part of the family! Chameleon Youth has given me the confidence to stay true to myself across many aspects of my life.
4) Can you describe a favourite memory from your time in Chameleon Youth?
A key memory of mine would have to be the creative residential weekend with Propeller, a youth dance company from Cornwall. Having the opportunity to meet like-minded people from the other side of the country was amazing!
5) What are you off to do next?
Next year, I am going into my first year at Northern School of Contemporary Dance!
6) Why would you recommend Chameleon Youth to a friend?
Everyone is always so welcome no matter who they are – it feels so safe here!

The annual Audition is free to attend.
Audition applications close at midnight on Friday 11 July.
Chameleon Youth training
If you’re auditioning for Chameleon Youth it’s important that you’re available for our weekly classes, which take place at our dance studio in Openshaw, Manchester.
Chameleon Juniors (ages 11 – 16) train on Monday evenings, 6.30-8.30pm and Chameleon Youth Seniors (ages 16 – 21) train on Tuesday evenings, 6.30-8.30pm.
Chameleon Youth annual fees
Demonstrating Chameleon’s ongoing investment and commitment to supporting young dancers in training, Chameleon Youth costs are heavily subsidised by the company. The 2025/26 fees are £100 total for the year (£30 per term with a £10 registration fee).
