Chameleon Youth – Eve’s story.
17 June 2025In the countdown to this year’s Chameleon Youth audition on Sunday 13 July, Eve tells us about her experience of dancing in youth dance company.
1) Hello Eve, how old are you and where are you from?
Hello, I’m 17 and I’m from Droylsden in Tameside.
2) What made you want to be in Chameleon Youth?
Chameleon Youth instantly felt warm and welcoming, and the space felt inclusive and positive. It offered me the chance to work with lots of super talented dancers and to take part in some amazing opportunities to further my dance experience.
3) What has Chameleon Youth given you?
I’ve made some great friendships and connections being in Chameleon Youth, and it’s allowed me to develop skills that I’ve not explored in other dance spaces before, like partner work and improvisation.
4) Could you describe a key highlight from your time in Chameleon Youth?
I loved being given the opportunity to connect and work with other dancers from across the country in a creative exchange weekend with Propeller Youth Dance in Falmouth. As part of the exchange, next month we travel as a company to Cornwall to work with them in their studio in Falmouth, which I’m really excited about.
5) Why should any budding young dancers come along to the July audition for Chameleon Youth 2025-26?
Chameleon Youth is great for budding dancers to learn new skills, grow connections and have fun in a really supportive environment.

The annual Audition is free to attend.
Audition applications close at midnight on Friday 11 July.
Chameleon Youth training
If you’re auditioning for Chameleon Youth it’s important that you’re available for our weekly classes, which take place at our dance studio in Openshaw, Manchester.
Chameleon Juniors (ages 11 – 16) train on Monday evenings, 6.30-8.30pm and Chameleon Youth Seniors (ages 16 – 21) train on Tuesday evenings, 6.30-8.30pm.
Chameleon Youth annual fees
Demonstrating Chameleon’s ongoing investment and commitment to supporting young dancers in training, Chameleon Youth costs are heavily subsidised by the company. The 2025/26 fees are £100 total for the year (£30 per term with a £10 registration fee).
