Ahead of the premiere of Obscura on Friday 6 February and the first of three UK tour dates, we invite you to meet the Director and the cast of the show, as they tell us what they’re looking forward to the most about the forthcoming theatre tour.
“I always love the energy that is in a theatre before the performance starts. I look forward to hearing peoples thoughts and feelings after the performance. It is fascinating and intriguing to hear them share their view.” Kevin, director
“I’m looking forward to performing on a stage in a theatre again, as we bring our work indoors for the first time since The Shadow tour. It’s really special that we get to premiere it our home city of Manchester as well, and the show can be seen by our friends and families. As both Refuse and Umbra were originally made for the outdoors it will be interesting to see how the works translate for theatre and how that will impact the audience’s perception of the performance.” Alice, performer
“I’m looking forward to performing in two yet distinctly different works that embody the storytelling of human evolution through relationships and the many layers of emotional expression that we, as humans, often try to hide deep within ourselves. I’m looking forward to exploring how I, as an artist, bring my identity and background into the space, and most importantly, I’m looking forward to sharing this space with artists I can call family.” Kadafi, performer
“I’m very excited to be able to perform Obscura in different theatres and to see how each of them feels differently! As well as getting to share the stage with such brilliant artists.” Lucia, performer
“I’m really excited to be joining Company Chameleon for the Obscura performances and tour. I’m looking forward to diving into the physical intensity of the work, exploring the company’s distinctive movement language, and developing the piece through performances on tour.” Rebecca, performer
“We are on the cusp of darkness in our world, and as an artist, I can often feel powerless. I’m looking forward to being part of a piece that’s not just entertaining and visually rich, but socially relevant. I hope the work brings a little humanity back to where it has been stripped away, invokes empathy to where it previously wasn’t and plants the seeds for us to engage in our world and our inner self a little more.” Shameer, performer
Obscura tours to HOME in Manchester on Friday 6 February, The Arts Centre at Edge Hill University on Wednesday 11 February and Pegasus Theatre, Oxford on Friday 6 March.
