Company Chameleon is on tour, taking two spectacular shows to three countries this September.
Throughout the month, we’ll be performing The Ultimate Player’s Handbook and Umbra at festivals in Spain, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Fira Tarrega, Spain: 12-13 September 2026
The tour starts at Fira Tarrega this weekend in Spain, a public organisation that works to activate Catalan performing arts creation and professional artistic exchange both nationally and internationally.
Our dancers will perform The Ultimate Player’s Handbook which is a co-production between Company Chameleon and Clémentine & Lisard, based in Spain, commissioned by XTRAX and the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona, and funded by Arts Council England and Manchester City Council.
The show is a street performance that transforms public space into a playground. Through dance, music, humour and audience interaction, our dancers invite the audience to rediscover the simple act of playing together.
Inspired by childhood games shared across different cultures, the piece explores play as a universal language, capable of connecting strangers, creating alliances, and dissolving barriers. The true victory is not winning, but finding joy in playing together.
The show is free to attend, and more information can be found HERE.
Oeverloos Festival: 18-20 September 2026
Our dancers then travel to Oeverloos Festival, an outdoor event held in Zutphen, Netherlands, along the scenic banks of the IJssel river that programs exciting performances in squares, in parks, in nature, and at special venues that perfectly fit to the performance.
Performing Umbra, the piece explores what we hide and what we reveal, and how behaviour changes depending on who we are with.
Highly physical and theatrical, Umbra spotlights exclusion, and the search for understanding and to be understood.
Tickets can be purchased HERE.
TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ Festival: 19-20 September 2026
TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ Festival is the annual celebration of contemporary dance in Chemnitz, Germany and offers a dynamic platform for artistic expression and cultural exchange.
Our dancers will perform The Ultimate Player’s Handbook at the festival. Since its foundation, TANZ | MODERNE | TANZ has been an integral part of Chemnitz’s cultural calendar and presents groundbreaking works by choreographers from all over the world and from all over Germany.
The aim of the festival is to make contemporary dance accessible to everyone – with performances in theaters, public squares, industrial sites and urban spaces in order to reach a diverse audience.
Back at home: The festival continues
On Saturday 26 September, Derby city centre will be transformed into a vibrant playground of creativity, as the city’s premier free outdoor arts festival, Derby Festé, returns.
Company Chameleon ends its run of festival appearances with Refuse, a work that explores displacement, migration and asylum.
A play on words, the performance brings home the raw reality of people being refused and treated like refuse, when they leave their homeland in search of a better life.
Inspired by the painting, The Raft of the Medusa (1819) by Théodore Géricault, Refuse explores the relevance of the artwork, in relation to the plight of asylum seekers today.
Derby Festé promises a truly unique, family-friendly celebration right in the heart of the city.
Join us at 12pm and 2:45pm, with free entry. More information can be found HERE.
Don’t forget, the Derby Festé programme will run from 11.30am and this year will extend into the evening, so you can experience Festé after dark!
